Dear Friends,
I am extremely pleased to inform you that we have successfully completed our first year as an online medical journal in this highly competitive world of medical journal publishing. The underlying factor for this success has been your continued support. We at the Journal of Clinical Imaging Science want to express our sincere thanks to our board of advisors, section editors, reviewers, readers, and contributors for their hard work, perseverance, and dedication.
Another heartening fact is that we have been included in PubMed, since September, 2011. Most of the articles are already indexed in PubMed; the others are in the process of being included. It is the consistently high quality of the articles that has enabled us to be included in PubMed and it is gratifying to note that the contributors can see, first-hand, their efforts being formally recognized.
We had 23,460 visitors to our journal's website, (www. clinicalimagingscience.org) from 144 countries of the world in the past year. We had a total of 50,427 page views with 77% being first-time visitors. The majority of our visitors came from United States, India, Turkey, United Kingdom, Canada, China, Italy, Japan, and South Korea, in that order. I see our mission of having a global reach and serving radiologists and medical practitioners worldwide being accomplished through this open access platform. We are providing free access to all the articles published in our journal to everyone around the globe, irrespective of their society affiliation – something that we are justifiably proud of.
We received over 140 articles comprising original research studies, review articles, pictorial essays, radiological-pathological correlations, and case reports. Each and every submission has undergone a detailed and very strict peer review before its publication. We have strived to maintain very high publishing standards for these imaging studies. For those interested in statistics, our acceptance rate has averaged 43% during our first year, indicating the presence of a significant number of capable specialists and researchers, with quality material and high publication potential.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Uma Prakash, Editorial Director, for her sustained diligence and efforts.
With best wishes for the festive season and great things to come in the New Year.
