As we embark on 2025, it is an ideal moment to reflect on the achievements of 2024 – a truly remarkable year for the Journal of Clinical Imaging Science. Over the past year, the journal has upheld its commitment to excellence, consistently publishing high-quality clinical content that explores diverse aspects of radiological investigations. These accomplishments have been made possible through the invaluable contributions of esteemed authors from across the globe. The continued success of the journal is a testament to the invaluable contributions of our authors, whose insightful manuscripts bring richness and depth to our pages. Equally vital are our dedicated reviewers, whose expertise and commitment ensure the rigor of our double-blind peer-review process and uphold the highest standards of quality. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our reviewers for their tireless efforts and to our editorial board and section leaders for their unwavering diligence, guidance, and steadfast support in shaping the journal’s excellence. As Editor-in-Chief, I am proud of the journal’s growth and remain optimistic that 2025 will see us achieve even greater academic milestones.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2024
The journal addressed several emerging technologies, including groundbreaking developments in 3D printing for personalized medicine[1] and an insightful evaluation of artificial intelligence in diagnostic radiology.[2]
ADVANCES ACROSS DISCIPLINES
Cardiology
The journal explored cutting-edge cardiac imaging topics, such as pediatric cardiac computed tomography (CT) for congenital heart disease.[3] In addition, we emphasized the underrecognized role of myocardial infarctions detected on non-gated, non-cardiac CT scans, urging greater attention to this often-overlooked finding.[4]
Oncology
The field of oncology featured prominently, with a detailed review of magnetic resonance imaging in intracranial meningiomas[5] and two exemplary studies on hepatocellular carcinoma. One study highlighted the predictive value of tumor diameter, capsule enhancement, and prior interventions in assessing vascular lake phenomena during drug-eluting bead chemoembolization.[6,7] Another article provided an engaging systematic review of cone-beam CT-guided transcatheter arterial chemoembolization.[8]
Orthopedics
Radiology’s symbiotic relationship with orthopedics was underscored in several publications. Notable among them was a morphometric evaluation of the proximal tibiofibular joint in patients with knee pain.[9] We also welcomed a global perspective on chiropractic practice, focusing on routine radiographic imaging for postural misalignments.[10]

In 2024, the journal proudly represented a diverse range of contributors from countries including the United States, India, China, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Turkey, Poland, and Australia. This diversity reflects our steadfast commitment to inclusivity and meritocracy, where every submission is evaluated solely on the strength of its clinical and academic content.
